From Megalithic, the evidence of our ancestors can be seen everywhere. With 154 standing stones, the site of La Cham des Bondons is the second place in Europe, after Carnac, in Brittany. Later on, Anderitum, now Javols, was the capital of the Gabales, a gaulish tribe. Lets follow the flow of the centuries…here we are under Louis XIV reign. Camisards, French Protestants of Cevennes region, raised an insurrection against the persecutions which followed the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. Sixty years later, the Beast of Gevaudan terrorised the former province of Gevaudan.
